Charm
Bracelet
My daughter, if you could
see into my heart,
you would find a bracelet
full of charms.
It would have on it
memoirs of you,
from that first time I
held you in my arms.
It would have a tiny pink
bonnet,
in remembrance of the
first time I kissed your downy head.
A crayon to represent all
those pictures that you drew;
"I love you, Mommy," they
all said.
A little lunch box for
your very first day of school,
I remember how I
cried.
Also a little boy for your
first crush,
I recall the shy look in
your eyes as you sighed.
Naturally, it would
include a doll, or maybe two,
for you could never seem
to put yours down.
In honor of your precious
bed time prayers,
it would have a little
nightgown.
A charm of a candle with a
flame glowing bright,
for your birthdays that
seem to breeze by.
Also a tear drop for your
first fight with your best friend,
I will never forget that
pitiful look in your eyes.
A pom-pom for your
cheering days,
or maybe a football
because of the boys.
A tiny tee for the clothes
that exploded in your room,
long gone was your
interest in toys.
A car charm would be on it
too, of course,
along with a
telephone,
for these had become your
new interests
as you had
grown.
However, the most
revealing charm of all
would be a pair of wings
inside a heart.
For, the moment I laid
eyes on you, my little angel,
I fell in love with you
from the start.
