Field Of
Daisies
While strolling
through a field of daisies,
I stooped down to relish their sweet
scent against the land.
Then my imagination swept me
away,
as I grasped one of the blossoms in my
hand.
My thoughts walked me down the paths
of years gone by,
and I began to wonder what my life
could have been.
I pondered over things I would have
done differently,
if I had the opportunity to live it
over again.
The rootless successes I dreamed of
for myself
seemed empty of luster as I thought
them through.
When I questioned their lack of
brilliance,
I realized success means nothing
without you.
When I glanced down at the wildflower
I held,
I learned a lesson that I could
keep.
Without the roots that held this daisy
firm in the ground,
it did not stand a chance, for roots
run deep.
In my day dreams I skipped down those
paths a bit happier then,
for the dainty blossom opened my eyes
so I could finally see.
Success carries the sweetest
scent
within one's own
family.
