Her Wedding Day

He stiffly watched the wedding couple from across the room.

He cringed as the bride batted her eyelashes at her new groom.

Bubbles of happy laughter floated through the air.

He wished with all his might that he could drag her away from there.

He turned away as the groom tried to catch his attention.

He had a few words for that fellow no decent man could mention.

He slipped aside where he could sulk to himself out of the way.

He recalled all the times she swore she would marry him someday.

He used to be her only love, the special man in her life.

Now suddenly she had become this other fellow's wife.

Oh, he guessed the guy was all right in his own way.

But, why could he have not stolen some other girl's heart away?

No, he did not care for this fellow who claimed her love as his own.

He wallowed in the greatest feeling of jealousy he had ever known.

He glared back and saw her sweetly kiss that clown.

Then he saw her heading his way so he turned back around.

Suddenly he felt a petite hand gently tugging him along.

"Come on, Daddy. I believe they are playing our song."
