Humbled

I am humbled before Thee, Lord.

My soul has dropped me to my knees.

Rejection is as bitter as a poison.

How did You take it with such seeming ease?

My heart feels weak from discouragement.

I need Your strength to simply face the day.

Serving Your Truth is a hard fate.

My Lord, my Jesus, why can there not be another way?

You warned of troubled waters when following You,

but I feel as if I might drown.

You had more than ten thousand angels at Your disposal,

yet You never called on one, no matter how badly You were beaten down.

I hold less than a miniscule amount of Your perfect faith,

how shamed am I within Your sight.

When the going gets rough for me,

I long to abandon the plight.

Oh Jesus, I need Your help in this distressing hour,

restore my abilities.

Help me to serve You as I was put here to do,

join me while I am on my knees.

Do not allow me to turn from Your will,

no matter how the adversary tries to interfere.

Please, go before me to make the way,

and I will follow behind, always near.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
