Imagine if you were informed by an angelic messenger

that Jesus was coming to your house to stay.

You would be compelled to spend every waking hour

in preparation, cleaning throughout night and day.

Silverware and dishes, along with every corner of your home,

would be polished to a high shine.

Fresh linens would be provided in the bed and bath

for the welcome use by your Lord, Divine.

A clean aroma would perfume the air

as you gave the effort all your might.

Yet, no matter how much you scrubbed

you would still feel your home to be inadequate, not quite right.

After all, your modest abode would,

for as long as He wished, house your King!

You would be responsible for the comfort of the Almighty,

and you would recognize that as no trivial thing!

So, I challenge you, fellow Christian,

you had best get a head start.

For, if you have asked Jesus to be your Savior,

He has already taken up residence within your heart.
