Jewel from the
Crown of God
Her children arise
and call her blessed. ~ Proverbs 31:28 NIV
Y
Late last evening
I answered a knock at my door
and found an angel
standing there.
He was clothed
with the glory of Heaven,
and the light of
God illuminated his hair.
When I asked of
him,
"To what do I owe
this most pleasant surprise?"
he merely looked
past me,
and glanced around my home with
questioning eyes.
He said, "Today, I noticed a jewel was
missing
from my Father's
crown."
Then he glared
back down at me
with a dreadfully
accusing frown.
He continued, "I
searched all of Heaven,
but could not find
His missing gem.
Then I heard God
calling out to me,
so I went and
knelt obediently before Him.
He told me to
worry not,
for He had sent
His treasure to you here on Earth.
Now, I have come
to see what you need
with a prize of
such immeasurable worth."
I stepped aside,
and welcomed the angel into my
home
while I told him
all I knew.
For the jewel this
angel was searching for,
my dear mother,
was you.
I opened my
picture book, and I introduced him
while we traveled
the yester years,
to a lady who
bathed in her children's laughter,
and washed away
their tears.
I explained to him
how I knew you were a treasure
sent from Heaven
up above.
However, not until
that moment did I realize
the true value of
my own mother's love.
If you are
wondering about the angel,
well he went back
to his Heavenly home.
For when he saw
how much I needed God's precious,
priceless jewel,
he departed alone.
