Life Lessons

Late nights will often find you grading homework and tests.

Devotion and coffee keep you going while your body begs for rest.

There are lessons to be prepared for the challenges of a new day.

“I will sleep tomorrow” you often hear yourself say.

A love for academics only partly led you into your vocation.

Those children in your classroom, they are your real inspiration.

Globes, grammar and mathematics swirl through young minds

as you repeat the answers to their questions yet another time.

Studies are important, but these are not the only things you teach.

Social skills and manners are also instilled in the kids you reach.

Counselor, professor, and care provider all rolled into one.

Little lives entrusted to your charge with our young daughters and sons.

Often we parents do not realize everything it takes to do what you do.

So, allow me this opportunity to say, “I sincerely thank you.”
