My Jewelry
Box
I have a special
jewelry box hidden beneath my
bed.
It was given to me
on the day that I was wed.
Along with the
fresh commitment of a new golden
band,
I felt the
pressure of that box being slipped into my
hand.
I thought it an
odd gift to be given on a wedding
day,
until I peered
inside and saw my new jewels on display.
I found a
remarkable pendant sparkling back at
me,
a sure symbol that
I had been accepted into my new family.
I took that
pendant and positioned it close to my
heart,
for it had
captured my endearment right from the
start.
Trimmed with a
sweet kindness and humble
grace,
my pendant can
charm a smile from most any face.
With an
irresistible magnetism, it won my
affection,
and undoubtedly
became a favored piece among my
collection.
I sometimes take
out my jewelry box when I am feeling
down,
and my pendant
paints a smile where there once was a
frown.
God knows how much
I love my jewelry box and the joy it
brings,
because I thank
Him for it in my prayers each evening.
The special
jewelry box was a gift from Him, you
see,
and it held inside
on display my precious new family.
The pendant which
sparkled its' way into my heart was
you.
I was so thankful
to join your family as I said, "I do."
While I was
grateful for all the wedding gifts we received that
day,
I will always
treasure the jewels that box held on
display.
