In Heaven's
Garden
In Heaven's garden grew a
lovely lily.
A delicate flower of grace and simple
beauty.
Her soft scent was carried by the gentle
breeze.
She was a tempting
favorite among the sunning bees.
Only God noticed the
slight wither of her fragile frame.
The petals she sweetly flaunted did not seem
the same.
He took note of the empty space that rested
beside her,
then decided He would fill
it with the perfect flower.
He grasped the clouds of
Earth in His powerful hands,
and laid them aside so He could survey the
land.
He skipped over the daisies dancing in the
meadows.
He passed up the daffodils
splashed in vivid yellows.
He did not give a patch of
azaleas a second glance.
Nor did He see an iris worth giving a
chance.
He paused among the orchids, but none would
do.
He passed over the
carnations dressed in pale blue.
God desired a flower
worthy of His lily's love.
One that would spend eternity in His garden
above.
A blossom that was strong,
yet pure and tender.
One that would bring her
joy as it grew there with her.
God found the flower He
wanted resting on a vine.
He gently cradled the
flower, as He said, "It's time."
He delighted in the sweet scent that tickled
His nose.
For His lonely, lovely
lily, God picked a rose.
