Once Upon a Time,
a Sweet
Valentine
He held his breath as he
watched her draw near.
His heart began to pound
so fiercely, he was sure she would hear.
She cast her eyes in a
side-glance with a shy smile.
He could not tear his own
eyes from her, not now, not for a while.
If he allowed himself to
blink, she may no longer be there.
So he held her in his eyes
with a steady, unashamed stare.
His awareness of his
surroundings began to rapidly fade away.
He memorized her every
move so he could revisit this day.
She must be the sweetest
thing to ever be kissed by the sun above.
How he longed to kiss her
himself, as he tasted the flavor of love.
He suppressed the desire
to seize her in a powerful embrace.
He simply tenderly used
his eyes to caress the features of her face.
Then God, with a
reassuring squeeze, released the lady's hand.
His eyes sparkled
playfully as He said, "This will be your man."
Adam eagerly, yet briefly,
searched the eyes of his Lord, Divine.
Then he turned back to the
adoring gaze of his sweet valentine.
