My world bears an aching emptiness

now that you are no longer here.

Sometimes I close my eyes when I am alone

and I can almost feel you near.

I can see you standing there,

on those streets crafted of pure gold.

I see you beckoning to me

with waiting arms I cannot reach to hold.

My heart breaks with sorrowful longing,

for I cannot bear the grief of you being gone.

Then I hear your soft voice in my thoughts,

“My dear, it will not be long.”

“I know you feel that I have left you,

but I simply could not stay.

I heard my Lord’s voice calling,

and I could not wait another day.”

“However, He has told me your time too will come,

and then we will never again be apart.

Until then, I am always with you still,

in your memories and your heart.”

“Though I know it hurts you to hear me say this,

you simply must let me go.

I am here whenever you need me,

just close your eyes and open Heaven’s window.”
