You Didn’t Come Today

You didn’t come today.

I stayed here and waited.

I watched for you.

I hoped and anticipated.

Since I couldn’t talk with you,

I decided to drop you a note.

Maybe you will come tomorrow,

after reading these words I have wrote.

We have so much to talk about.

We really do, you and I.

I want to hear about what made you laugh.

I want to hear about what made you cry.

I want to talk about your dreams,

and that burden lying heavy on your heart.

We once talked about everything.

I was once included in your life, every part.

What happened to those special times,

those reserved for just us two?

I miss those days terribly,

the ones when I could count on seeing you.

I want to return to those days,

if you can find the time.

Remember those moments we shared?

I do. So I thought I’d drop you a line.

Well, I just wanted to let you know I was here.

There’s really not much more to say.

I’ll wait for you again tomorrow.

Please come. You didn’t come today.

Your Friend,

Jesus
