Patchwork
Memories
If I could, I
would create a quilt with a collage of
memories
full of experiences I have endured in
my life.
I would stitch in portraits of my
childhood,
complete with collections of joy
coupled with strife.
Using a colorful array of moments
frozen in time,
I would sew in images of those I loved
best.
Younger versions of faces now graced
with age,
and lace it with shadows of those now
laid to rest.
I would accent it with decals of
children's laughter,
voices that can now only be heard in
the past.
I would design patterns of love that
grew with time,
sealing the seams with kisses and
tears so they would last.
Then I would carefully fold my
handmade quilt,
because it would be a quilt like no
other.
Praying that the shared memories would
warm your heart,
I would give it to
you, my dear brother.
