The Angel Behind the Waterfall

My eyes were opened

to one of life's sweetest treasures of all,

thanks to an angel

I met behind a waterfall.

You may have never heard of the legend

that I have been told.

It is an infamous legend

that dates back to times of old.

This legend tells of a treasure

priceless in worth.

There is only one place to find this treasure

on all the earth.

It is hidden behind a flowing waterfall,

I was told, one crowned with a rainbow.

Imagine my surprise when the golden ring I found there

was actually an angel's halo.

I told the angel, "I am here for the treasure

hidden behind the flowing stream."

She laughed, "You possess a treasure more valuable

than you could ever dream."

I begged, "Please, you know nothing of the hardships

I have encountered in my life.

You know not of the hours I have spent weeping,

miserable in strife.

If you will only allow me the treasure that is hidden

behind where this water flows,

I can use it to create for myself a personal utopia,

one only Heaven knows!"

The angel firmly shook her head and said,

"That simply cannot be."

She continued, "You already hold this treasure

within your own family.

If you will recall each of one the heart breaks

of your yester years,

you will also find there a constant hand

that soothed the sting of your fallen tears.

There are moments in your life,

and memories that only she and you share.

You may search behind this waterfall,

but you will not find a treasure that can compare."

I asked, "Messenger of Heaven, where can I find my treasure?

Where do I start?"

She whispered, "The rainbow crowns the love

flowing from your sister's heart."
