The Other Woman
He
splashes on his best cologne,
then tightens up his
tie.
He walks briskly through the
kitchen,
and kisses his loving wife
good-bye.
He steals a glance at his
watch
while rushing to his
car.
He knows she will be
waiting.
Luckily, she does not live
far.
He contemplates his evening
plans,
maybe some sparkling champagne of
sweet spice.
She always enjoys Italian
food.
That new place outside of town would
be nice.
From the moment the baby was
born,
it has been hard for him to get
away.
She does not criticize him
though.
She just smiles in her understanding
way.
The time they have to spend
together
is so precious, yet so
rare.
Tonight he plans to make an extra
effort
to remind
her that he does still care.
As he pulls
into her driveway,
he finds her waiting on her front
porch swing.
He notices the new dress she is
wearing.
She looks especially beautiful this
evening.
He steps from his car
thinking,
"She is truly a woman like no
other."
Easing up the steps, he returns her
eager smile
as he asks, "Are you ready
Mother?"
